The Blog: What Will I Write About?
Ever since I decided to write a blog, I’ve been wracking my brain trying to come up with something to write about; something interesting, engaging, (humorous would be a plus) and worthy of your time. I’ve polled my friends to get ideas and jotted down everything that popped into my head. But, none of those ideas got my juices flowing. I just couldn’t drum up any passion for the ideas on my list. And I figured if I’m not excited, you sure wouldn’t be. Man, this blog thing is harder than it looks.
Today was different. This morning I read an article about a woman who realized after 9/11 that life was short and she needed to pursue her dream of being an artist. Hmm, I thought. Good for you! Now, back to work. Three hours of website building later, I needed a break. I went to see the Meryl Streep movie, "Ricki and the Flash" about a woman who left her family to pursue her dream of being a musician. I have to confess I was feeling slightly guilty about going to see a movie at 11:30 in the morning, but told myself that the creative mind needs a break from time-to-time to allow fresh ideas to appear. It IS true and it is also a good justification for playing hooky for awhile!
Well, guess what? On the drive home from the movie, mind rested and ready, something happened. I felt the Universe tapping me on the shoulder to say, “Hello? Carol? Anyone home? How many more clues do you need before you figure out the obvious?” In an instant, everything came together. I had also quit my corporate job to follow my dreams (with a detour to Costa Rica, but that's another story), And right then, there it was. I had my idea and knew exactly where to start.
Carol’s Blog: Take One
People are always asking me to tell them my story, asking me questions like, “How did you get started making jewelry?” and “Where does your inspiration come from?” and the always popular, “How long does it take to make a piece of jewelry?” So, the first thing I’m going to do is tell my story – one question at a time. I think this will be a fun journey and my blog will grow and evolve. Along with telling my story, I envision other topics that will be informational (how to care for your pearls), educational (legend and lore of gemstones) and humorous (why women love jewelry).
I’d like to encourage you to ask other questions or tell your own stories if you are so inspired. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride and give me your feedback so that I can write a blog that you look forward to reading and sharing with others.
Stay tuned for my next blog posts: October Birthstones and How It All Began
With that, I leave you with a quote for the day:
