An Unconventional Beginning

While I was visiting a friend in Benicia, CA, she got a phone call from someone asking her out to dinner.  Even though we had already started cooking, I said, “Why not, lets go!”  So, off we went to meet our “date” at a local Thai restaurant.  It was one of those places where you take your shoes off and sit on the floor. Throughout the evening, while I was falling in love with that South African accent I was also feeling someone rubbing my toes under the table. 

As it turns out, our “date” was quite charming and after dropping my friend off at home we continued a conversation that has lasted 22 years.

A year after we met, Steve and I were married by our good friend, Roger, on the Lyon Street steps in San Francisco.  It was an unconventional wedding and it has been an unconventional, wild ride – one of fun, adventure, travel and lots of love and respect for one another.  I couldn’t imagine a better partner!
